Como parte de las renovaciones del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Villa Alemana, se hará el reemplazo oficial de
la antigua unidad, adquirida en los ‘80, por un moderno vehículo.

VILLA ALEMANA. Con el fin de recabar más antecedentes de esta buena noticia, contactamos a Juan Carlos Olivera, Segundo Comandante del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Villa Alemana.

COMUNAL DE VILLA ALEMANA.- ¿Desde cuándo poseen carros para combatir los incendios forestales?
Juan Carlos OLIVERA.- Fue gracias a una política implementada
por los años ’83-’84. Ocasión en la que se adquirió el carro U-22.
Un carro especialmente diseñado para combatir los incendios forestales de
la zona centrosur del país. En ese entonces, las zonas boscosas eran mucho más densas e impenetrables que hoy en día. Era un carro muy especial, capaz de subir cuestas muy empinadas, por lo que se le conoció
como “carro araña”. Tenía una capacidad para llevar a 9 bomberos, incluido el chófer. Sin embargo, luego de 36 años de prestar
servicios y tras 3 años de gestiones, por parte del Cuerpo de Bomberos de Villa Alemana; reemplazaremos la mítica U-22, conocida como “carro araña”, por una moderna unidad para combatir incendios forestales.

¿Qué tipo de características tendrá la nueva unidad?
Será una máquina más enfocada a una intervención semirural y urbana. Sin la tan reconocida tracción y movilidad de la antigua
U-22, pero con prestaciones mucho más modernas y prácticas; afines para las actuales condiciones geográficas. Será un modelo Atego, de la marca Mercedes Benz.

¿Cómo se financiará esta iniciativa?
Posterior a las políticas de los ‘80, poco a poco se fueron suspendiendo los
recursos a los Cuerpos de Bomberos, para combatir los incendios forestales.
Debiendo obtenerlos solo mediante la gestión del Cuerpo de Bomberos.
En el caso de Villa Alemana, Bomberos ayudará a financiar el 40% del valor
del nuevo carro. Valor que bordea los 300 millones de pesos. El otro 60%, lo aportará la Junta Nacional de Cuerpos de Bomberos.

¿Qué pasará con el “carro araña”? ¿Será vendido a terceros?
Por nuestra parte, deseamos darle la calidad de patrimonio bomberil de la
comuna de Villa Alemana. Esto dependerá de la Dirección Nacional de Cuerpos de Bomberos de Chile. Sin embargo, trataremos de realizar todo lo posible para mantenerlo como parte fundamental de la tradición
de nuestro Cuerpo de Bomberos.
